Woodpeckers

I have seen a lot of woodpeckers this past week, one of them the red bellied woodpecker I don't see often for some reason. I also got some beautiful shots of a flicker, as below. With their flashy yellow tails and wings, and pink head, flickers have to be THE prettiest woodpeckers in North America.
Amazing!

Beautiful!

Downy woodpecker.

Probably my best shot of a downy.

Red bellied woodpecker!

Flicker by the creek.

  1. Hi, my name is Coralee. I am in 6th grade and live in Iowa. I found your blog through the Iowa Young Birder's site. I think your photos of woodpeckers are fabulous. I am a birder, too. I write a biweekly column about my observations and send it out through my mom's email as part of my homeschooling (I am using her wordpress account to make this comment). I am excited to read more of your posts.
